Excerpt from SENDIK'S FINE FOODS
"The longer I am in the wine business; it becomes increasingly more important to me to find people devoted to making great wine. Finding great wine at any price point is part of the reason that I chose this career. I am interested in the stories, the magic, the romance, the passion and the dedication that fuels people to continue in this very volatile profession where one bad wine review from a "writer in the know" could signal the end. John Buehler is one of these people. John Buehler began producing Zinfandel and Cabernet fruit for Cuvaison, Grgich Hills and Burgess.
In 1978 as his fruit became increasing more complex; he decided to crush the first vintage of Buehler vintage wine. That first vintage yielded a modest 700 cases split between Cabernet and Zinfandel. Today Buehler produces about 15,000 cases from its 300 acre estate with 65 acres planted to Zinfandel and Cabernet. The hillside vineyards continue to yield compelling, layered, intensely flavored fruit from vines that are 25 years old. The remaining 235 acres on the estate are for the deer, wild turkeys, mountain lions and coyotes and three generations of the Buehler family.
